“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony” - Mahatma Gandhi. For most of my life, I thought I understood what Gandhi was attempting to preach. Having the ability to have your mind and body see eye to eye seems fairly easy right? But, what happens when you begin listening to other people? What happens when the opinion of society becomes too powerful to ignore?
Staying true to yourself can be difficult at times. If we are being completely honest, I have struggled with it my entire life. Like myself, we as humans continuously attempt to piece together the “puzzle of life”. We worry about mindless things, aiming to consider everything apart of the mystery. Until, we discover that some pieces are not meant to fit and that maybe, the puzzle was meant for someone else. The beautiful thing about life is when we stay true to ourselves, we create our own puzzle. Just like Gandhi said; we decide what we think, what we say, and what we do. And when all three are in harmony, that is when we can truly live life in the color we aspire to. Staying true to who we are can be challenging, but when you are like Darielle Loprete, it is worth the wait.
Growing up in Queens, New York, nothing is given to you. Everything is earned. The hustle and bustle of the city inspired a young girl, Darielle, who aimed to find success in her new passion: dancing. Ever since she stepped foot in her mom’s dance studio at the age of 2, she knew her life would be revolved around the art of dance.
It was more than just dancing. It was about making an impact. Since a young age, the hard work and dedication of her family motivated Darielle to not just pursue her individual goals, but to inspire others. As a child, she also learned a valuable lesson to be no one else, but herself. Since then, the young entertainer strives to create out of passion. Not for fame, likes, or approval. Darielle creates to see that one person watch her perform and realize that life is more than just tweets and likes, but about self-love.
This past year, Darielle graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Baruch College in New York City. While she was earning her degree, she was on the big screen. Many of her acting/dancing performances landed on TV Networks such as MTV, Nickelodeon, Fox, Beyonce (Move Your Body Movement), Amy Marshall Company, and the CW. Sounds impressive right? To add to her skillful resume, Darielle also had the opportunity of working for the New York Mets as an on-camera host! This was a very special experience for her, considering her childhood in New York and the love she shares for sports like baseball. However, after earning her degree on the East Coast, it was time for the graduate to make an impact on the West Coast. Over the past few months, Darielle has spent time in Los Angeles working towards her next major project. And if it was not enough, she also is looking forward to expressing her new-found love as a voice-artist by becoming more involved with movies and TV shows! You go girl.
When she is not in the studio, in classes, or working on her many talents, Darielle loves to give back. She currently works for a non-profit with children, constantly being a positive influence for the next generation. This desire to give back is something that has always stuck with her. The grit and grind of Queens, NY instilled in Darielle taught her that when there is nothing, there is love. Throughout her early career, she has made love a priority, giving back and inspiring the young artists whether she’s shooting a commercial, dancing in the studio, or spending time with the less fortunate.
Puzzles are complex. Just like life, puzzles leave us constantly on the edge, aiming to piece everything together impatiently and obsessively. Guilty. Although, what we never understood was that some of the pieces were not meant to fit and that maybe, piecing life together was the unreachable, but beautiful goal we shared.
Sooner than later, we realize that the beautiful thing about life is the unexpected. The feeling of thrill when you make the jump, stepping out of your comfort zone, and landing on the side of life you dreamt about your entire existence. The funny thing is, the way you get there is not by creating out of likes, views, or the opinions of others. You get there by being YOU. Staying true to who you are is the path to limitless love, growth, and happiness. It allows you to live in your skin and see life in colors only you can see. From growing up in Queens, NY to performing in the bright lights of L.A, Darielle has never let go of who she is. Whether she is in the studio or giving back to her community, Darielle has embraced her true colors and has used them to make this world and this house vastly more colorful.
“Everyday is a gift, and everyday is an opportunity to grow, to discover, and to do better than yesterday. You never know when life can change so spread love, take chances, and appreciate all ya got! Remember, everyone has a different path so don't compare yourself to others. Stay in your lane! Lastly, there will always be doubt in life and nothing is really what it seems; even the people that appear to have it "all figured out" sometimes don't. It's not about the end result, it's about the journey. Oh and don't forget to have fun and keep your heart open along the way, laughing is always the answer! Also HUGE Shoutout to the Kolorhouse for spreading positivity and light!” - Darielle Loprete
